  • TIDE is Offline Until October 2, 2018

    TIDE will be offline until October 2, 2018 in preparation for the spring 2019 administration. When TIDE goes live on October 2nd, only the Users tasks will be available. At this point you may add, edit, or delete user accounts. If you have any other questions about TIDE, please contact the SC-Alt Help Desk.

  • ORS is Live

    Scores for the SC-Alt Online Assessment Operational Field Test (OFT) in Science grades 4, 6, and 8 and all High School subjects, including Algebra, English, Biology, and US History and Constitution are now available in the Online Reporting System (ORS). To check scores, navigate to the SC Alternate Assessment Portal, click on the appropriate user role link on the left side of the page (e.g., Test Coordinators), and then select the Online Reporting System link.

  • Upcoming Systems Downtime

    The following systems will be down for maintenance and inaccessible beginning July 3 at 9:00PM through July 8:

    • Online Reporting System (ORS)
    • TA Certification Course
    • TA Practice Site

    The following systems will be available, with some limitations:

    • TIDE
      • Users cannot submit Rescore or Score Assigned to Wrong Student requests
      • Users cannot lookup or resolve discrepant records
    • Practice Test Site
      • Users can only log in under guest mode
      • Users will not be able to enter student credentials or session IDs

  • Updated Range PLDs Available

    Updated Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs) for all tested grades and subjects are now available on the Portal. From the Resources homepage, navigate to Test Administration Resources and then to Standards & Support Guides.

  • Identifying English Language Proficiency Standards 

    The SCDE is recruiting teachers and paraprofessionals to review the draft CCSSO English language proficiency standards for English learners with significant cognitive disabilities. For details and to register, please fill out the Identifying English Language Proficiency Standards registration form and email it to the address in the document. Please note that this is different from the SC-Alt Standard Setting meeting, scheduled for June 18-20, 2018.

  • Changes to Test Assignments for 2019

    Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, students in grades 3-8 who take the alternate assessments will be tested based on their enrolled grade rather than on their age-based grade (previously called tested grade). For high school students meeting the eligibility criteria for alternate assessments, the Individualized Education Program team will determine when it is most appropriate for the student to receive instruction on the standards for each subject for which the alternate assessment is aligned.

  • SC Alternate Assessments Standard Setting

    The SCDE will convene a standard setting committee on June 18-20, 2018 to recommend three cuts scores resulting in four performance levels for each of the operational tests delivered in 2018. The SCDE is actively recruiting participants. Committee members must attend all days.

    Please contact your DTC-Alt if you are interested. Submissions must be completed by May 4, 2018.

  • Completing Tests in the Test Delivery System

    Please note that TAs must submit an online test by selecting End Test from the Global Menu. Instructions for how to access the Global Menu are on page 29 of the TA User Guide. To check the status of tests in your district, please log in to TIDE, select Monitoring Test Progress, and then Test Status Code Report. The fourth column lists the status of all tests in the school or district. Any tests that are paused with all items answered (e.g. 20/20) still need to be closed by selecting the End Test button in the Global Menu.

  • Additional Order Window Closes Today

    Today is the last day to place Additional Orders in TIDE. Please place any orders for test materials by 11:59 pm tonight, April 6, 2018. Once the window closes, DTCs-Alt will be unable to order any testing materials.

  • Reminder to Validate the Security Affidavits

    Test administrators and monitors must validate the TA Security Affidavit in TIDE for every subject once a student completes a test. Failure to do so by Friday, April 13 will result in the invalidation of scores tests without both validations. Please refer to one of the following resources for guidance on how to validate the TA Security Affidavit in TIDE:

  • Closing Online Tests

    Follow these steps to close an online test:

    1. Open the Global Menu by clicking on the gray box in the top left of the screen.
    2. The password is the student's first name.
    3. The "End Test" button will appear when the test can be closed. Click this button when you are ready.
    4. On the next page, click "Submit Test".

  • No Mode of Communication Policy Update

    The SC-NCSC No Mode of Communication procedures now apply to the SC-Alt Online Assessments as well. For details, please see page 22 in the TAM.

  • Text-to-Speech Reminders

    You are welcome to use the native voice pack on your testing device or you can download the Julie Voice Pack from TIDE. If you are having any difficulties downloading the Julie Voice Pack, please see the Voice Pack Installation Guide on the Portal.

  • Test Window Now Open

    The spring 2018 SC Alternate Assessments test window is now open, February 26 – April 13. There are several changes to the online Test Delivery System this year, so please be sure to read the TA User Guide and the TA Quick Start Guide. For the paper-accommodated SC-NCSC Mathematics and ELA forms and the SC-Alt Social Studies Grades 5 and 7, which are delivered through the Data Entry Interface, please read the DEI User Guide for guidance on how to enter scores.

  • Text-to-Speech Update

    The SC-NCSC tests do not have Text-to-Speech for this administration. The SC-Alt Online Assessment field test items that appear at the end of the SC-NCSC test, however, do have Text-to-Speech. The TA will read aloud the SC-NCSC questions and response options. Instructions for doing this are in the SC-NCSC Directions for Test Administration (DTAs), which are available in TIDE under General Resources. Please use the DTAs to administer all SC-NCSC tests.

  • Ordering Paper and Braille

    Braille materials are only available for certain tests and subjects. For the SC-Alt Online Assessments, order both Paper Response Options and Brailed materials, if available. Braille materials are available for the following subjects:

    • SC-Alt Social Studies Grade 5
    • SC-Alt Social Studies Grade 7
    • SC-Alt Online Assessment Science Grade 6
    • SC-Alt Online Assessment Biology Grade 11
    • SC-Alt Online Assessment Algebra I Grade 11

    Braille materials are not available for SC-NCSC. TAs may Braille the SC-NCSC tests if necessary.

  • Materials Ordering

    DTCs-Alt who confirmed shipping information should have received their initial orders. The initial orders were packaged by school. Each school received a school packing list and SC-Alt Social Studies TA Kits. Additional order can now be made for any paper testing materials. Please note that ordering paper SC-NCSC materials and SC-Alt Online Assessment Paper Response Options require that the student's IEP have a paper accommodation listed.

  • Additional Order Window Now Open

    The Additional Order Window opens today, February 16, and runs through April 6. DTCs-Alt may now order any paper materials required for the 2018 administration in TIDE.

  • New Documents Available

    Drafts of ELA and Math Support Guides are now available in the Resources section of the Portal.

    A training video for monitors is also available under Resources. This optional video covers the primary responsibilities of test monitors. TAs may use this video to prepare their monitors for testing.

  • Training Registration Closing

  • Pre-ID Students

    Please ensure that all of your alternate assessment students are in TIDE and in the correct school and district. For details on students that are enrolled in one school but testing in another, please see the Special Testing Scenarios Guidance document on the Portal.

  • Initial Ordering Window is Open in TIDE

    The Initial Ordering Window is open through January 30. Before closing, please ensure that all students eligible to participate in the alternate assessments are in TIDE. Additionally, DTCs-Alt must confirm their contact information in TIDE to receive orders of paper testing materials.

    REMINDER: New TAs must attend one of the regional trainings to administer any the alternate assessments. Please register for training on the Portal.

  • Updates to 2018 Tests

    There are no longer tests in Grade 9 for any alternate assessment students. Please see the Age and Grade Reference Sheet for the delivered tests, or see the TAM additional details about the make up of the individual tests.

  • TIDE is Live

    TIDE for the 2018 administration is now available. All 2017 users should have received an email with instructions and a link to reset their TIDE passwords. If you had a TIDE account in 2017 and did not receive your log-in information, please contact the Help Desk. To access TIDE, select the "TIDE" card on the Portal homepage. The TIDE User Guide is also available on the Portal.

  • Revised Important Dates

    AIR and the SCDE have decided on a few enhancements to the online testing interface in order to make the online tests more user friendly for students with significant cognitive disabilities for the spring 2018 administration. As a result, we are revising several important dates leading up to the test window, which opens on February 26, 2018. You may access all the important dates and events by clicking on Important Dates on the Portal homepage. A PDF version is also available.

  • PLD Survey

    AIR and the SCDE are interested in feedback on the Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs). For the support guides, we would like input on how to tie them to functional academic instruction.   • DTC-Alt Webinar Date Change

    AIR and the SCDE have decided to move the date of the DTC-Alt Training Webinar from Thursday, October 19 to Thursday, November 9, 2017, due to a scheduling conflict with the State Testing and Accountability Directors Meeting.
